Press Release: Korean American Democratic Committee Endorses Irene Shin for Delegate

The Korean American Democratic Committee (KADC) is a political action committee focused on mobilizing the Korean American community nationwide to participate in local, state, and federal elections.

Virginia’s 86th HD has a significant Korean American population.

HERNDON, Va. –– Today, the Korean American Democratic Committee (KADC) endorses Irene Shin for Delegate for the 86th District.

“Irene will be a passionate and committed public servant,” said KADC President Steve Kang. “From her first organizing job registering voters in LA’s Koreatown, she has always been guided by a commitment to improving all voters’ access to their government and to ensuring that historically marginalized communities are included in the democratic process. In these times of heightened anti-Asian rhetoric and violence, it is critical that voices from our community, like Irene’s, are heard. KADC is so proud to stand behind her in this race.”

“As the daughter of Korean immigrants, it is a true honor to have the support of KADC, which is a phenomenal force for political empowerment in the Korean American community. We know that representation matters, and now more than ever we need AAPI voices at the table to combat the recent spike in anti-Asian attacks. As Delegate, I will be committed to engaging our Korean American community year round, including by establishing a field liaison for the AAPI community. I look forward to working with KADC to make sure our voices are heard loud and clear in Richmond.”
