Press Release: Top of 2021 Democratic Ticket Endorses Irene Shin for Delegate
HERNDON, Va. – Today Governor Terry McAuliffe, Lieutenant Governor Democratic Nominee, Hala Ayala, and Attorney General, Mark Herring, endorse Irene Shin for Delegate.
Statement from Governor McAuliffe: "The past year has presented our Commonwealth with many challenges, and Virginians deserve leaders who will fight for them and put their interests first. Irene Shin will be a tireless advocate for creating good paying jobs, making health care more affordable, and strengthening education in Virginia."

I am proud to stand with Irene Shin as we work to build a Commonwealth where everyone has a seat at the table. I’m endorsing her to be the next Delegate for the 86th District because we need to bring people together to get things done.”

Irene Shin has worked as a community organizer, an activist, and a General Assembly advocate for a number of causes including improving access to healthcare, fighting Big Money's influence in politics, and expanding voting rights to all Virginians.
Irene has also worked to bring transportation solutions and improved mass transit to the region, having served as a member of the Tysons Transportation District Service Advisory Board for Fairfax County.
A lifelong Democrat, Irene has helped dozens of ordinary citizens prepare to run for office. She serves on the board of the Competitive Commonwealth Fund, which recruits and trains Democratic candidates for the House of Delegates across Virginia.
Currently, Irene is the executive director for a nonprofit focused on increasing civic engagement in Virginia.
Irene lives in downtown Herndon with new puppy, Mookie. She enjoys visiting local businesses and walking on the W&OD Trail.
